THE PERCEIVED SERVICE QUALITY AS MANAGEMENT INDICATOR IN A MAJOR SPORTING EVENT

Abstract


This paper is the result of a study to determine the perceived service quality and satisfaction of spectators and athletes Almeria 2005 Mediterranean Games. A brief review of the research on perceived quality of sporting events is done and, presents the main results on the perceived quality and satisfaction of spectators and athletes. The main conclusion is that in the two samples analyzed (athletes and spectators) the valuation is very high although spectators score higher than athletes. Finally, it reflects on the importance of including such measures in addition to the economic impact to determine the social impact and the potential impact on public attitudes toward major sporting events.
